"Poof" It's a Skirt!

Once upon a time there was a little girl who wanted something more than just her uncomfortable shorts.  They fit her great at the waist but horrible at the bottom.  She new that the ball was getting closer and closer and she had nothing cute to wear to this awesome event.  Until Lady Nicole and her trusty side kick Sir Brother Machine came to save the day!  With a snip and a snap, a sew and a serge, Lady Nicole and Sir Brother Machine conquered those awful shorts and made some of the cutest skirts in all the land.  The End

Well my little sister really didn't like her shorts, and I had been wanting to do another project so I made her 2 cute skirts.  All I did was cut off the legs and add on some fabric with a couple of ideas and poof!  Just like the fairy godmother transformed the servant girl into the enchanting princess; I transformed my little sister's shorts into some adorable skirts.  In the future I hope to have some more cute jean skirt ideas and show them off to you!  Until next time, see ya later!

Retro Remake

One fine day my mom was getting ready for our garage sale.  This sale happens once every 2 to 3 years. We go through all of our stuff and get rid of treasures that no longer posses a luster to our eyes.  Mom invites our friends and family to drop of their unwanted treasures and then she invites our other neighbors to jump on board and make it a sale day for the neighborhood.  Well, on this fine day, mom was looking through her closet throwing out this and that.  Then suddenly, she asked me to try on her old 1990's dress.  I did and I thought that it was not my style, it was out dated and awkward looking.  Yet I saw potential.
Mom didn't want me to redo this dress because she wanted to get $3 dollars out of it at the garage sale.  But my dad said he wanted to see what I would do with it so mom and I made a deal, I get to redo the dress, if she gets to receive her 3 dollars.  So I began on creating this Retro Remake.

I went into my room and began designing.  Ideas came into my head and I drew them down then it was time.  I was to create a master piece!  With my scissors in hand and my tape measure around my neck I cut, measured, then sewed, cut, measured, and sewed some more, until finally my work was complete.  Mom and dad were amazed and I was proud of myself, because this in fact was the second remake project I had done.  I had sewn a lot of patterns and some of my own designed bags and stuff.  But sewing free hand was an awesome challenge and a lot of fun.

Here is what I did.  Reshape the neck line, shorten the dress, take the lining and dress that I had cut off, gathered them into ruffles and sewed them on.  Then I surged everything for a finished look.  To top it all off I took the weird necklace thing that was connected to the dress and made those into earrings.  Pared it with a black belt I had, and some adorable black heels from a thrift store.  Well, I hope you enjoyed reading this Retro Remake.  See ya later!

Sorry if the pictures are a little blurry.

Allow Me to Introduce Myself

Hi there! My name is Nicole Pearce, and I am aspiring to be a fashion designer.  This blog is just for me to have some fun with the things I make and show them off to a little old page on the internet.  I love to sew and it is a great gift that God has blessed me with.  I have so much fun when sewing a project.  I also have fun shopping at thrift stores, and feeling so proud of myself when I create an outfit for under 10 dollars!  Some people I notice will go to a thrift store look at one rack and think every thing is gross, but no fear my friends I am here to help you in this economy and go on a treasure hunt and dress up for less!
